Author Guidelines

SUBMISSION AND EVALUATION

When filling out the registration of authors in the journal system and submitting a manuscript, a confirmation email is sent to the corresponding Author. The editorial review process only starts if the manuscript follows the established norms (Guide for authors); otherwise, it is returned for adequacy.

Manuscripts that comply with the prescribed standards will be submitted to similarity detection software and analyzed by the Editorial Committee, which will decide whether or not to proceed with the editorial analysis.

Editorial Committee´s decision to accept or reject a submission paper will be based only on the paper’s importance, originality, and clarity, and the study’s relevance to the remit of the journal.

Papers not suitable for the journal scope will be returned to the Authors, even before the technical-scientific analysis. Manuscripts with problems regarding the textual composition structure will be returned and, if corrected, can be resubmitted.

The submitted manuscript will not be retained or copied. Editors will treat all submitted papers as confidential.

Initially approved by the Editorial Committee, the manuscripts will proceed to the next phase where the evaluators will be chosen by this same Committee, among researchers of recognized competence in the specific area of each work and, preferably, linked to different institutions from those where the manuscript under analysis was originated.

Considering that Judgments must be objective, reviewers must not present any bias and no conflict of interest.

The Editorial Committee asks the reviewers, before starting the analysis of a manuscript, to consider the possibility of some situations and/or relationships that may compromise the impartiality of the evaluation process, such as regular collaboration with possible authors in activities of research, advisor-student association, commercial interest in the publication, family relationship. In these cases, the reviewer is asked to immediately return the manuscript, communicating the impossibility of analyzing it.

PREPARATION OF THE MANUSCRIPT

 1) Types of paper and preparation

The paper (manuscript) submitted to the publication should be registered in the portal of the journal https://periodicosonline.uems.br/index.php/agrineo/login. The manuscripts can be submitted in Portuguese, Spanish and English.

Only papers will be accepted after they have been reviewed and approved by the editorial board and have not been published or submitted for publication in another vehicle. except in this limitation, those presented in congresses, in the form of a summary. the editorial board verifies if the work meets the scope of the journal, if it is in the norms for submission and if there is no plagiarism. if plagiarism occurs or does not meet the scope, the work will be rejected in submission and will not go to process.

Papers subdivided in parts 1, 2 ..., must be sent together as they will be submitted to the same reviewers. please note the following instructions for preparing the papers.

Research involving human and animals must submit an opinion of approval of an institutional ethics committee already in submission.

There are no submission or publication fees in the Journal of Neotropical Agriculture, to date. the whole process is carried out for free.

2) Translation and revision

To increase our international visibility and improve the classification of the Journal of Neotropical Agriculture with Qualis CAPES, as of July 1, 2018, all papers submitted in Portuguese and Spanish, once accepted, must be translated into English by specialist and recognized companies. (with CNPJ and web address). Papers submitted in English, if accepted, should also be reviewed by recognized companies. The costs of translating and/or reviewing the articles are the sole responsibility of the authors.

3) Sequential manuscript composition

a) TITLE: maximum of 15 words, in capital letters, bold and centered;

b) Manuscript must be composed of a maximum of six (6) authors. If the number of authors exceeds six, this should be duly justified, assigning the function of each author in the item "Comments to the editor". The justification will be analyzed by the Editorial Board and may or may not be accepted. All authors are entered into the system -  https://periodicosonline.uems.br/index.php/agrineo/login - in step 3. Submission metadata (Indexing), INCLUDE AUTHOR. The file in Word format, attached to the system, should NOT include the names of the authors in order to preserve the peer review; 

c) Abstract: the word "ABSTRACT:" must be written in capital letters, bold and justified. The abstract text begins after the word "ABSTRACT:" and must have a maximum of 17 lines. The Abstract should be written in english and portuguese too. The title written in portuguese shall be inserted before the abstract written in Portuguese; 

d) Keywords: the "KEYWORDS:" must be written in capital letters, bold and justified. The keywords, a minimum of three and a maximum of five, not included in the title and separated by a comma, written with the first capital letter and the other lowercase letters;

e) INTRODUCTION: highlight the relevance of the article, including through literature review;

f) MATERIALS AND METHODS;

g) RESULTS AND DISCUSSION;

h) CONCLUSIONS should be written succinctly, that is, without additional comments or explanations, based on the research objectives;

i) ACKNOWLEDGMENTS (optional): text after the item, with a maximum of three lines;

j) REFERENCES;

k) the items INTRODUCTION; MATERIAL AND METHODS; RESULTS AND DISCUSSION; CONCLUSIONS and REFERENCES must be justified, capitalized and bold. The text of each item should start on the next line.

l) Manuscripts should be submitted in up to 20 pages. The text must be edited in Word for Windows (maximum size 2mb, version .doc or .docx) and typed in page size A-4 (210mm x 297mm), with margins of 2.5cm, single column and 1.5 spacing between rows. The font should be Times New Roman, number 12, for all items and information in the file. Use paragraph tab of 1.25 cm.

m) The Figures should be in Windows compatible programs, such as Excel, and image format: figures (GIF, JPEG or TIFF) and photos (JPEG) with 300 dpi resolution. Tables and Figures should be inserted in the text and not at the end of the paper. The calls of the tables and figures in the text begin with capital letters (examples: Table 1, Table 2, Figure 1, Figure 2. etc). The title of the table should be inserted before the table, to facilitate the insertion of text in the table footer. The title of the figure should be inserted after figure.

n) The writing of the manuscripts should present brevity, objectivity and clarity, with the language in the impersonal past;

o) For scientific notes the manuscript structure is the same as the scientific paper and the maximum of 10 pages in the manuscript;

p) The information presented in the work is the exclusive responsibility of its authors, as well as the accuracy of bibliographical references, although it is reserved to the publishers the right to make textual adjustments to conform to the norms of publication.

q) The citations in the body of the text should be made as follows:

- an author: Soares (2009) or (Soares, 2009);

- two authors: Pereira and Farias (2008) or (Pereira and Farias, 2008)

- three or more authors: Martins et al. (2009) or (Martins et al., 2009).

Citation quotes should be avoided;

r) Preferably for citations of scientific articles, books and book chapters. Citations of abstracts, graduation papers, dissertations and theses are not accepted.

s) Preferably citation references of scientific articles published in the last 10 years. Exceptional cases will be considered.

t) In the item REFERENCES, all bibliographical works mentioned in the text will be listed, in alphabetical order. Standards for reference see examples in item 4.

u) Obs.: THERE ARE NO PROCESSING FEES OR SUBMISSION OF THE ARTICLES UP TO NOW.

SUBMISSÃO E AVALIAÇÃO

Ao preencher o cadastro dos autores no sistema da revista e submeter um trabalho, um e-mail de confirmação é enviado ao autor correspondente. O processo de revisão editorial só inicia se o manuscrito estiver em concordância com as normas estabelecidas (Diretrizes ao autores), caso contrário, é devolvido para adequação.

Os manuscritos que estiverem em conformidade com as normas prescritas serão submetidos a software de detecção de similaridades e apreciados pelo Comitê Editorial, o qual decidirá pelo prosseguimento ou não da análise editorial.

A decisão do Comitê Editorial de receber ou não um manuscrito para publicação serão embasadas somente na importância, originalidade, clareza e na relevância no que se refere à missão/foco da revista.

Trabalhos não adequados ao escopo do periódico serão devolvidos aos Autores, antes mesmo da análise técnico-científica. Trabalhos com problemas quanto à estrutura de composição textual serão devolvidos e se corrigidos, podem ser submetidos novamente.

Os manuscritos não devem ser retidos ou copiados. Os editores devem tratar todos os manuscritos submetidos como confidenciais.

Aprovados, inicialmente pelo Comitê Editorial, os trabalhos seguirão para a próxima fase onde os avaliadores serão escolhidos por este mesmo Comitê, entre pesquisadores de reconhecida competência na área específica de cada trabalho e, preferencialmente, vinculados a instituições distintas daquelas onde originou-se o trabalho em análise.

Considerando que os julgamentos devem ser objetivos, os revisores não devem apresentar qualquer preconceito e conflito de interesses.

Dessa forma, o Comitê Editorial solicita aos Consultores que, antes de iniciarem a análise de um manuscrito, considerem a possibilidade de algumas situações e/ou relações que possam comprometer a imparcialidade do processo de avaliação tais como: colaboração regular com os possíveis autores em atividades de pesquisa, relação orientador/orientado, interesse comercial na publicação, relação familiar. Nestes casos, solicita-se ao Consultor a imediata devolução do manuscrito, comunicando a impossibilidade de analisá-lo. 

PREPARAÇÃO DOS MANUSCRITOS

1) Forma e preparação de manuscritos

O trabalho (manuscrito) submetido à publicação deverá ser cadastrado no portal da revista https://periodicosonline.uems.br/index.php/agrineo/login. Os manuscritos podem ser submetidos em português, espanhol e inglês.

Só serão aceitos trabalhos depois de revistos e aprovados pela Comissão Editorial, e que não foram publicados ou submetidos em publicação em outro veículo. Excetuam-se, nesta limitação, os apresentados em congressos, em forma de resumo. O Comitê Editorial verifica se o trabalho atende o escopo da revista, se está nas normas para submissão e se não existe plágio. Ocorrendo plágio ou não atendendo o escopo, o trabalho será rejeitado na submissão e não irá para tramitação.

Os trabalhos subdivididos em partes 1, 2..., devem ser enviados juntos, pois serão submetidos aos mesmos revisores. Solicita-se observar as seguintes instruções para o preparo dos artigos.

Pesquisa envolvendo seres humanos e animais obrigatoriamente deve apresentar parecer de aprovação de um comitê de ética institucional já na submissão.

Não existem taxas de submissão ou de publicação na Revista de Agricultura Neotropical, até o momento. Todo o processo é realizado gratuitamente.

 2) Tradução e revisão

Visando ampliar nossa visibilidade internacional e melhorar a classificação do periódico “Revista de Agricultura Neotropical” junto ao QUALIS CAPES, a partir de 01 de julho de 2018 todos os trabalhos submetidos, em português e espanhol, depois de aceitos, deverão ser obrigatoriamente traduzidos para o inglês por empresas especializadas e reconhecidas. (com CNPJ e endereço na web) Os trabalhos submetidos em inglês, se aceitos, também deverão ser revisados por empresas reconhecidas. Os custos de tradução e/ou revisão dos artigos são de inteira responsabilidade dos autores.

3) Composição sequencial do artigo e outras informações

a) TÍTULO: no máximo com 15 palavras, em letras maiúsculas, negrito e centralizado;

b) Os artigos deverão ser compostos por, no máximo, 6 (seis) autores. Caso o número de autores exceda a seis, isto deverá ser devidamente justificado, designando a função de cada autor no item “Comentários ao editor”. A justificativa será analisada pela comissão editorial podendo ou não ser aceita. Todos os autores devem ser inseridos no sistema - https://periodicosonline.uems.br/index.php/agrineo/login - em Passo 3. Metadados da submissão (Indexação), INCLUIR AUTOR. O arquivo no formato do Word, anexado no sistema, NÃO deve constar os nomes dos autores para que seja preservada a avaliação às cegas.

c) Resumo: A palavra “RESUMO:” deve ser escrita em letras maiúsculas, negrita e justificada. O texto do resumo se inicia após a palavra “RESUMO:” e deve ter no máximo 17 linhas. O texto do resumo deve ser escrito em inglês e também em português. O resumo em português vem precedido pelo título em português;

d) Palavras-chave: A “PALAVRA-CHAVE:” deve ser escrita em letras maiúsculas, negrita e justificada. As palavras-chave, no mínimo três e no máximo cinco, não constantes no Título e separadas por vírgula, escrita com a primeira letra maiúscula e as demais letras minúsculas;

e) INTRODUÇÃO: destacar a relevância do artigo, inclusive através de revisão de literatura;

f) MATERIAL E MÉTODOS;

g) RESULTADOS E DISCUSSÃO;

h) CONCLUSÕES devem ser escritas de forma sucinta, isto é, sem comentários nem explicações adicionais, baseando-se nos objetivos da pesquisa;

i) AGRADECIMENTOS (opcional): texto corrido após o item, com, no máximo, em três linhas;

j) REFERÊNCIAS;

k) Os itens INTRODUÇÃO; MATERIAL E MÉTODOS; RESULTADOS E DISCUSSÃO; CONCLUSÕES; REFERÊNCIAS devem ser justificadas e com letras maiúsculas, em Negrito. O texto de cada item deve iniciar na linha seguinte.

l) Os trabalhos devem ser apresentados em até 20 páginas. O texto deve ser editado em Word for Windows (tamanho máximo de 2MB, versão .doc ou .docx) e digitado em página tamanho A-4 (210 mm x 297 mm), com margens de 2,5 cm, em coluna única e espaçamento 1,5 entre linhas. A fonte tipográfica deve ser Times New Roman, número 12, para todos os itens e informações no arquivo. Usar tabulação de parágrafo de 1,25 cm.

m) As figuras deverão estar em programas compatíveis com o WINDOWS, como o EXCEL, e formato de imagens: Figuras (GIF, JPEG ou TIFF) e Fotos (JPEG) com resolução de 300 dpi. As Tabelas e Figuras devem estar inseridas no texto e não no final do trabalho. As chamadas das Tabelas e Figuras no texto iniciam-se com Letra Maiúscula (Exemplos: Tabela 1.; Tabela 2.; Figura 1.; Figura 2. etc). O título da Tabela deverá ser inserido antes da Tabela, para facilitar a inserção de texto no rodapé das mesmas. O titulo da figura deverá ser inserido após a Figura.

n) A redação dos trabalhos deverá apresentar concisão, objetividade e clareza, com a linguagem no passado impessoal;

o) Para Notas Científicas a estrutura do trabalho é a mesma do artigo científico e o máximo de 10 páginas no envio do trabalho.

p) As informações apresentadas no trabalho são de responsabilidade exclusiva de seus autores, bem como a exatidão das referências bibliográficas, ainda que reservado aos editores o direito de proceder a ajustes textuais e de adequação às normas da publicação.

q) As citações no corpo do texto devem ser feitas da seguinte forma:

- um autor: Soares (2009) ou (Soares, 2009);

- dois autores: Pereira e Farias (2008) ou (Pereira e Farias, 2008)

- três ou mais autores: Martins et al. (2009) ou (Martins et al., 2009).

Citações de citação devem ser evitadas;

r) A revista preza por citações de artigos científicos, livros e capítulos de livros, não aceitando citações de resumos, trabalhos de conclusão de curso de graduação, dissertações e teses.

s) Preferencialmente referências de citações de artigos científicos publicados nos últimos 10 anos. Casos excepcionais serão considerados.

t) No item REFERÊNCIAS, serão relacionadas todas as obras bibliográficas citadas no texto, em ordem alfabética. Normas para referência veja exemplos no item 4.

u) OBS.: NÃO EXISTEM TAXAS DE PROCESSAMENTO NEM DE SUBMISSÃO DOS ARTIGOS ATÉ O PRESENTE MOMENTO.
