Abstract

This research, with a qualitative approach, bibliographic procedure and exploratory character, has the objective to investigate aspects of popular cultural cearensidade in the work O País dos Mourões (1972), by Gerardo Mello Mourão, unfolding into two specific objectives: To define cearensidade based on the evolution of cultural concepts, with an emphasis on its popular expression and indicate parts of cearensidade in Gerardo's work. Thus, this work is justified by studying the writer Gerardo Mello Mourão within the Ceará literary tradition, innovative proposal for the analysis of the poet's work. About the reason, Catunda (1999) and Júnior (2016) support the discussions about the author's life and critical fortune; in addition to the postulations of Arantes (1990), Machado (2002) and Sampaio (2012) for the debates about culture and cearensidade, and, finally, the work on screen for the survey and analysis of the corpus of this study, among other references that guide and validate the theoretical problematizations raised during the investigation. For the experiences lived and narrated, especially in the song represented by the Greek letter λ (p. 109-123), Gerardo explores the cearensidade inherited both in the physiognomy and in the culture and lexicon of its people, which evidences its naturalness and its identity, thus making possible future researches in Cearense Literature.
