This article demonstrates how self-writing can be transformative and freeing in oneself. In the book A Cor Púrpura, by Alice Walker, she synthesizes gender and racial violence experienced by black women, who for a long time were silenced and not seen. Through the intimacy of the book's epistolary narrative, it is possible to perceive the violence that propagates silently, inherited from a racist and sexist society. We will point out in the story the reality of the characters and show the power of transformation through self-recognition. We acknowledge the importance of the voice given by the authors of this wave of literary production to the freedom of black women and the struggle for their rights to exist in a better reality that encompasses them.
