Vol. 14 No. 42 (2024): The naming of spaces: particularisation and designation in Mato Grosso do Sul and others

In this issue of Web Revista SOCIODIALETO we propose to present articles that discuss or analyse names attributed to a specific geography, to places, especially in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, whether they are the names of municipalities, neighbourhoods, streets, etc. We believe that names are not attributed randomly, but are constituted from the relationships established with reality. Naming is a way of signifying the particularisation of a space in the world, in relation to other spaces. In this way, the event of naming is a semantic operation through which something is given a name, and the meanings of names are constructed enunciatively in a socio-historical relationship.
