Between scars and silences

Abstract

Thinking about experiences that allow scars that last throughout life in order to provide silences that bring out different meanings is relevant when such sensations are observed in the context of the literary text through the events and actions of the characters. Based on the above, this article seeks to analyze and understand the configurations of the scars and silences expressed in the work Reze pelas mulheres roubadas (2015) through the memories of the narrator character, given that the events permeate an environment of exacerbated violence against local women, represented in the work by the characters Paula, Maria and Ladydi. Regarding the theoretical perspective, support is given by the thinking of: Brait (2017); Candido (2011); Gagnebin (2009); Le Braton (2006); Candau (2019), Segato (2016), and Butler (2020), among others. As for considerations, we observed the different forms of visible and invisible scars on women's bodies, as well as the ways in which silences are configured in the face of circumstances that cause pain and trauma. Therefore, we verified that the work allows a re-signification of experiences through the possibility of reconstructing memories that, even executed in past situations, bring to light reflections in the present, especially when these experiences happen on female bodies.
