Abstract

Public education is a fundamental right that must be guaranteed by the state. In Brazil, there is a need for education to be brought up to a level that corresponds to its importance in social construction. Without education, human beings become incapable of creating awareness and responding to social desires for politics and justice. This is why this article will analyse the obstacles that stand in the way of a quality public school, mainly from the teachers' point of view in the national context and in the state of Alagoas.
