NOMES DE MULHERES NA TOPONÍMIA URBANA DE DOURADOS – MS

Abstract

Este estudo, que se insere no campo da Toponímia, uma das subdivisões da Onomástica, investiga um recorte da toponímia da cidade de Dourados (MS). Considerando a correlação entre língua e aspectos extralinguísticos, que pode ser observada mais evidentemente no nível lexical da língua, a pesquisa proposta tem como objetivo principal verificar em que medida se observam nomes de mulheres na toponímia urbana de Dourados. O trabalho pretendeu evidenciar, entre outras questões, que perfil de mulher mereceu ser homenageado com nomes de ruas. Além disso, pretendemos contribuir para o registro de informações sobre a cidade que, normalmente, podem ser obtidas por meio do estudo toponímico.  Para a coleta dos topônimos que foram analisados, utilizamos mapas da área urbana do município nos quais aparecem os nomes de ruas. A análise dos dados foi fundamentada nas teorias que discutem a relação entre língua e fatores externos, léxico e, mais especificamente, Toponímia. Em síntese, os principais pressupostos teóricos e metodológicos utilizados neste trabalho, para coleta e análise dos dados, foram os de Dick (1986, 1990, 1992, 1996). A pesquisa demonstrou, entre outras questões, que a quantidade de nomes femininos como topônimos urbanos é muito inferior à quantidade de nomes masculinos e que as homenageadas desenvolviam, em geral, atividades que podiam ser realizadas sem prejuízo às atividades domésticas tradicionalmente atribuídas a elas.  

ABSTRACT: This study, which is part of the field of Toponymy, one of the subdivisions of Onomastics, investigates a toponymy section of the city of Dourados (MS). Considering the correlation between language and extralinguistic aspects, which can be observed with more evidence at the lexical level of the language, the proposed research has as main objective to verify to what extent the names of women are observed in the urban toponymy of Dourados. The paper intended to show, among other issues, which woman profile deserved to be honored with street names. In addition, we intend to contribute to the registration of information about the city that, normally, can be obtained through toponymic studies. For the collection of toponyms that were analyzed, we used maps of the urban area of ​​the municipality in which street names appear. Data analysis was based on theories that discuss the relationship between language and external factors, lexicon and, more specifically, Toponymy. In summary, the main theoretical and methodological assumptions used in this work, for data collection and analysis, were Dick's (1986, 1990, 1992, 1996). The research showed, among other issues, that the number of feminine names as urban toponyms is much lower than the number of masculine names and that the honorees developed, in general, activities that could be carried out without affecting domestic activities traditionally attributed to them.
