Abstract

ABSTRACT: This article is an analysis of the impacts of Covid-19 on indigenous communities in southeastern Pará with regard to Indigenous School Education and the political factors that affect the fight against the pandemic in these traditional communities. The work consisted of data obtained during remote meetings held this year, which were attended by several indigenous leaders (Parkatêjê, Kyikatêjê, Suruí, Guarani, among others) and representatives of associations of traditional groups (quilombolas, extractivists) and rural communities), in order to direct measures to combat the disease, which is killing the indigenous population, and to discuss possible return to classes remotely, through the Interactive Education System (SEI) proposed by the Department of Education of the State of Pará. The theoretical basis is based on data from recent theses, which point to the educational disparities that reflect in indigenous communities, such as Alencar (2018), and in authors such as Munduruku (2012), that address the importance of the participation of the indigenous themselves in the construction of a differentiated Indigenous School Education made by them. These considerations are conducive to the political and sanitary moment that we live in Brazil, where the lack of assistance to these communities is even more evident, so that the amount referring to confirmed cases and deaths among the indigenous people is questionable, since they do not register those live outside the villages. In short, there are countless problems caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, however, the focus of this work is the impacts on Indigenous School Education, which excels, especially, for specific, intercultural and differentiated education.
