DOCUMENTAÇÃO FONOLÓGICA DA VARIEDADE DO NHEENGATU DA REGIÃO DO MÉDIO E ALTO SOLIMÕES

Resumen

Este artigo apresenta uma parte dos resultados de pesquisa realizada no projeto Descrição e Documentação das Variedades do Nheengatu do Amazonas, financiado pelo CNPq, processo nº 4825555/2013-0 sobre as variedades do Nheengatu do Amazonas em três regiões do estado onde a língua ainda é falada com diferentes graus de proficiência linguística entre os falantes. Neste artigo tratamos a descrição e documentação da fonologia do Nheengatu ainda falado na região do Médio e Alto Rio Solimões/AM com base nos pressupostos teóricos da linguística descritiva, analisando os segmentos consonantais e vocálicos, suas ocorrências e restrições, bem como a estrutura silábica e o padrão acentual da língua. Como metodologia adotamos a pesquisa de campo, seguida da análise dos dados coletados para a identificação dos segmentos fonológicos. A hipótese que norteou a pesquisa sobre as variedades do Nheengatu é a de que, por conta desse processo de substituição linguística, as variedades podem ter se distanciado estruturalmente em um período relativamente curto. Dessa forma, documentar, descrever, analisar e comparar as variedades do Nheengatu em seus diversos níveis de análise permite contribuir para os processos de substituição linguística. O mapeamento atual das variedades da língua Nheengatu na região do Alto Rio Negro, na região do Médio Rio Amazonas e na região do Médio e Alto Rio Solimões apresenta-se como uma contribuição de cunho social e científico. Em termos sociais está o fato de que muitos povos que não falam mais suas línguas originárias buscam nessa língua uma identidade indígena. A importância científica está relacionada ao fato do Nheengatu ter sido historicamente a língua mais utilizada na região norte do país até o início do século 19, até mesmo mais que o português.

ABSTRACT: This article has a part of the results of the research done in the project Description and Documentation of the Nheengatu varieties of Amazonas, funded by CNPq, process No. 4825555 / 2013-0 on the Nheengatu varieties of the Amazonas in the three regions of the state where the language is still spoken with different degrees of linguistic proficiency among the speakers. In this article we discuss the description and documentation of Nheengatu phonology still spoken in the Middle and Upper Rio Solimões / AM region based on the theoretical assumptions of descriptive linguistics, analyzing the consonantal and vowel segments, their occurrences and constraints, as well as the syllabic and the accentual pattern of language. As methodology we adopted the field research, followed by the analysis of the collected data for the identification of the phonological segments. The hypothesis that guided Nheengatu varieties research is that, because of this linguistic substitution process, varieties may have structurally distanced themselves in a relatively short period of time. Thus, documenting, describing, analyzing and comparing Nheengatu varieties at their various levels of analysis contributes to the linguistic substitution processes. The current mapping of the varieties of the Nheengatu language in the Upper Rio Negro region, the Middle Amazon River region and the Middle and Upper Rio Solimões region is a social and scientific contribution. In social terms is the fact that many people who do not speak their native languages seek in that language an indigenous identity. The scientific importance is related to the fact that Nheengatu was historically the most used language in the northern part of the country until the beginning of the 19th century, even more than Portuguese.
