Abstract

This paper aims to advance a reflection on cultural studies (CS) in its pluralistic and moving dimension, since its emergence in Birmingham, which promotes ways of visualizing its theoretical and methodological applicability in order to facilitate the understanding of those interested in such studies, especially in the ways of doing and applying the perspective of cultural studies, such as in the educational and media-communication field, involving social and cultural practices, which is the main focus of CS. To this, the classic literature of British cultural studies is mobilized in dialogue with the American and Latin American, especially Brazilian, combined with the New Cultural Studies. It is concluded that this dimension of CS promotes ways of visualizing its theoretical and methodological applicability in order to facilitate the understanding of those interested in sociocultural practices, in which dialogues with various fields are admitted, such as post-structuralists, as they address new issues in contemporary times, expanding and seeking to delimit boundaries in the field, given its political and practical scope, not just theoretical, in the perception of culture(s); especially with the advent of the internet, new identities or identifications, the production of information etc., new ways of seeing and thinking about the manifestations of sociocultural practices affected by new agencies and relationships between subjects are brought to light. Therefore, it is up to the reader to note that when using ECs, they will, in some way, take a position when seeing the world and describing it, in its relationships and practices. It is necessary to conceive a political and practical stance in the analysis of any surrounding objects, in different contexts and eras.
