Fictional autobiographies, as pointed out by Tim Whitmarsh in his article “An I for an I: Reading Fictional Autobiography”, have many of their effects disregarded by the predominant approaches in narratological studies. Based on the author's observations, the intention here is to think about the status of the gender in different periods, considering, through theoretical incursions, both the limitations of analysis tools linked to formalist schools and those of markedly sociological currents. After this brief exposition, we will focus on the novel Lorde, by João Gilberto Noll, published in 2004. We are particularly interested in the aesthetic possibilities resulting from the use of elements referenced in the autobiographical discourse and the discussion around the delimitation between the narrative genres in what concerns its commitment to the representation of reality.
